Responsibilities

  • Own software development for key product capabilities that enable software-defined power systems.
  • Design and implement production-quality code with a strong focus on reliability, maintainability, and testability.
  • Develop software tools for configuration, bring-up, and validation of spacecraft power systems.
  • Collaborate with electrical and systems engineers to define interfaces between software and power electronics.
  • Support flight deliveries by ensuring software requirements are met, verified, and documented.
  • Participate in debugging complex system issues spanning software, firmware, and hardware.
  • Help establish and improve internal software development processes (code reviews, CI/CD, release workflows, documentation).
  • Work directly with customer technical teams as needed to support integration and mission success.
  • Pick up new skills as needed.
  • Manage time efficiently.

Qualifications (must have these skills to be considered for this position):

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • Typically has 5-15 years’ experience with a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals: clean code, architecture, debugging, version control, and testing.
  • Experience writing software for systems that interface with hardware (embedded systems, robotics, aerospace, industrial, automotive, or similar).
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver complex projects end-to-end in an environment with evolving requirements.
  • Ability to be flexible and execute quickly.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Desire to mentor and lead.
  • Ability to be self-directed.

Desired Skills (applicant does not need to have these skills to be considered for employment, but they are skills that the company seeks to meet short and long-term goals):

  • Familiarity with spacecraft systems, avionics, or flight software development environments.

  • Experience with C/C++ for embedded or performance-critical systems.
  • Familiarity with common communication protocols (UART, I2C, SPI, CAN, Ethernet, etc.).
  • Experience designing APIs or configuration interfaces for complex systems.
  • Experience with CI/CD systems and automated test pipelines.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices (especially for aerospace/DoD environments).
  • Experience working with hardware-in-the-loop test systems, lab automation, or instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with requirements tracking and verification processes.
  • Previous experience reviewing firmware/software related to power electronics systems.

We’re looking for a Power Systems Engineer who will be the responsible engineer for developing the hardware for the company’s power systems.
